Celebrating the Heart of ECHOS: Our Volunteers

Carrie Stricker and Jeanne Cassidy at National Night Out

At ECHOS, we are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by dedicated volunteer groups who show up for our community in so many meaningful ways. From shelter services to hygiene support at the Enrichment Center, from providing meals to helping at community events, our volunteers make a difference every single day.

What makes our volunteers so special is simple, they truly want to help. Supporting individuals and families in crisis can be challenging, but time and again, I see our volunteers arrive with open hearts, ready to care, to listen, and to create positive change. Their kindness touches not only our staff but, most importantly, the clients we serve.

One volunteer who embodies this spirit is Jeanne Cassidy. Jeanne has been a steady and joyful presence at countless ECHOS events, including the Great Turkey Chase, the Elizabethtown Fair, our Gala, and National Night Out. Drawing on her many years as an educator, Jeanne brings a deep passion for helping others understand homelessness and the challenges our neighbors face. Her warm, approachable nature invites meaningful conversations, breaking down stereotypes and building compassion within our community.

“For me, volunteering with ECHOS answers a spiritual calling to reach out to those less fortunate,” Jeanne shares. “ECHOS provides a framework to ‘give back’ to my neighbors who are experiencing housing and financial insecurities. A huge ‘thank you’ to all involved with ECHOS.”

To every volunteer who gives their time, skills, and energy to our mission, thank you. You are the heart of this work, and we could not do it without you.
